About The Elizabeth Foundation SS

The Elizabeth Foundation SS is a registered non-profit organisation (CAC/NGO Reg No: 8391820) headquartered at our Clinic Hub in Oluyole, Ibadan, Oyo State. We are committed to raising awareness and providing material, financial, and emotional support to those affected by sickle cell disease and related vulnerabilities.

Compassionate Care

We provide holistic welfare support to sickle cell patients, widows, the elderly, and single parents.

Transparency & Integrity

All disbursements are verified and made directly to institutions or verified bank accounts — no cash transfers.

Community Empowerment

From youth empowerment to food bank relief, we strengthen communities and restore dignity.

The Story Behind Elizabeth Foundation SS

Elizabeth Foundation SS was born from the life and loss of my first child, Elizabeth Ajani-Adeyemo, lovingly known as "Blue Bird."

Elizabeth was a beautiful, brilliant and exceptionally sweet child. She smiled all the time. She was gentle, loving and never gave me a reason to scream or shout at her. She was more than my daughter — she was my best friend.

Elizabeth was born with sickle cell anaemia. On 21 March 2017, Elizabeth sadly passed away at Basildon Hospital after approximately 10 hours, following a medical emergency involving sickle cell complications and inadequate access to the blood and medical care she needed.

Her death changed my life forever. I made a vow that no child should be left without proper care, support, education or access to the right information within their community. That vow became the foundation of Elizabeth Foundation SS.

Who Was Blue Bird?

Elizabeth's nursery school gave her the nickname "Blue Bird." She loved the colour blue deeply and dreamed of wearing a beautiful blue outfit for her prom day. Sadly, she never had the opportunity to fulfil that dream.

Elizabeth's father comes from a royal lineage, and Elizabeth was an Ibadan girl and a royal princess. After nine years of serving and making an impact, we believe it is time to bring her vision back to the community she came from.

Her story will not end with her death. Her story continues through every child we support, every family we help, every young person we empower and every life we touch.

Monthly sex education lectures, sanitary pads distribution, condom distribution, family-planning and reproductive health education.

Miss Omowonuola Oyebode

SNR Barrister · LL.M., Esq. · Human Rights Advocate

British-qualified barrister with a strong foundation in international legal practice and a commitment to judicial excellence. Human Rights Law Advocate since 2017, Deputy Secretary of APC UK Caucus, and Stakeholder APC Oyo State South East & North (Ward 2 Oranyan, Ibadan). She established Elizabeth Foundation SS in memory of her daughter Elizabeth, and has personally funded and led the Foundation's community programmes across Nigeria for nine years.

Oluwasefunmi Omotosho Adedeji is a passionate therapist, Food Technologist, and advocate for women's growth and mental well-being. She is the CEO of Collegio Edutech Solutions and the founder of We-Listen, a platform dedicated to providing emotional support, mental health awareness, and safe spaces for people to be heard and understood. Driven by a deep passion for helping others thrive, she is committed to empowering women to see possibilities beyond the walls of their homes — supporting women in rediscovering themselves, pursuing their dreams, and building meaningful careers. She is also deeply passionate about raising confident and purposeful girls. Beyond her professional work, Oluwasefunmi is a devoted wife and a proud mother of two boys.

M.Sc Clinical Pharmacy (University of Lagos)

Omolola Folake Nwokoma is a highly experienced clinical pharmacist with over two decades of pharmaceutical practice. She holds an M.Sc in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Lagos and a B.Pharm (Hons) from the University of Benin. She brings deep expertise in medication therapy management, patient education, and healthcare team collaboration. She is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (MPSN), the American Association of Health-Systems Pharmacists (MASHP), the Federation of International Pharmacists (FIP), and the Commonwealth Pharmacist Association (CPA).

Ms Omowonuola Oyebode is a British-qualified barrister with a strong foundation in international legal practice and a commitment to judicial excellence, with dedicated family responsibilities. She practices family, immigration and criminal law in the UK. She moved to the UK with her mother when she was 8 years old and has lived all her life in the UK, but remains very connected to her roots.

She holds a Mental Health & Social Care / Healthcare certificate covering: Lone Working; Mental Health, Dementia & Learning Disabilities; Transferrable & CV Skills; Assertiveness; Duty of Care; End of Life Care; Principles and Values in Health and Social Care; PPE and Covid Updates / Protecting Yourself and Others; Handling Information; Health & Safety; Activities in Care; Privacy & Dignity; Use of Language in Care; Customer Services in Care; Volunteering in Care; Mental Health and Recognising Your Own Mental Health; Stress, Anxiety and the Return to Work; and Skills for Care — Myth Busting, Value Based.

Politically and socially, I am deeply committed to promoting good governance, accountability, youth empowerment, women's inclusion, and sustainable community development within Ward 1 (C1), Ibadan South-East Local Government Area, and the wider Oyo South Senatorial District.

From One Mother's Promise

"

Elizabeth was my first child. She was my best friend, my beautiful Blue Bird.

Losing her broke something in me, but it also gave me a purpose. I promised myself that her life would not be remembered only because she died. She would be remembered because her life inspired us to make a difference.

For nine years, Elizabeth Foundation SS has continued to serve. We have supported children, families, elderly people, single mothers and communities. We have provided educational assistance, healthcare awareness, Christmas support and empowerment programmes.

Now, I believe it is time to do more.

I ask every parent: please do not give up on your child.

I ask every supporter: help us build something that will outlive us.

I ask every organisation and philanthropist: join us in bringing Blue Bird home.

Elizabeth's journey began in love. Her legacy continues through service. After 10 years of making an impact in her father's land, Blue Bird is coming home.

Ola, you are truly a beautiful soul and an extraordinary mother. I first met you in 2005, when you gave birth to our darling Elizabeth at Queen’s Hospital, Woolwich, London. I will never forget that day. Even while you were pushing, you kept apologising to the midwife. That moment has stayed with me all these years. From the very beginning, Elizabeth was surrounded by so much love. You cared for her with such devotion, and she was loved dearly by the entire team. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives. May her soul continue to rest in perfect peace. What makes me especially proud of you, Ola, is the way you have taken such a deeply painful experience and transformed it into something meaningful and positive. You have chosen to use your journey to help other mothers, raise awareness and make a difference in the lives of families affected by sickle cell and thalassaemia. Your humility, strength, compassion and determination are truly remarkable. You have done fantastically well in supporting the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia community, raising awareness and working alongside the NHS to ensure that people living with sickle cell disease receive the care, understanding and support they deserve, both medically and mentally. I was privileged to be one of the nurses who travelled with you to Lagos, Nigeria. I will always remember that wonderful experience of discovering the beautiful Nigerian culture, enjoying the jollof rice and plantain, but most importantly, learning and sharing knowledge about how to properly care for people living with sickle cell disease. Aunty Wonu, you may not remember me but I met you in 2017 when your daughter passed away. You are a strong woman, i was part of the single moms you lectured in your program.
